HARRIS LAW FIRM SETTLED WITH CHICAGO HOSPITAL FOR $2.35 MILLION DOLLARS IN MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CASE
“Hospitals And Doctors Involved Were Aware Of My Client’s Ailment”

"It concerned me when the client’s family contacted me and told me that the hospital and doctors involved were aware of my client’s ailment, had the capability to treat her ailment, and did nothing about it until she DIED two days later.”  In December of 2004, the deceased was taken by ambulance from work to Advocate Christ Hospital.  She was complaining of chest pains.  She had been treated at Christ Hospital previously for her heart condition.  She was admitted to Christ Hospital on December 9.  When she was admitted the physicians and staff were aware of her condition and knew that she needed immediate consultation with a specialist.  She was never seen by a specialist from the time she was admitted until her death nearly 2 days later.   The Harris Law Firm took on the case and filed suit on behalf of the deceased mother of 4.  After years of litigation, the hospital and responsible doctors settled the matter for over 2 million dollars.  “Even though money could never fill the space of the loss of a mother, it does bring some closure to the family to know that their loved one’s death did not go unrecognized.”

HARRIS LAW FIRM RECOVERS MONEY ON BEHALF OF MAN INJURED BY FALL FROM HOSPITAL WINDOW

In 2007, a Mississippi man was admitted to a hospital in Clarksdale, Mississippi.  Not long after being admitted, the man started showing signs of mental impairment.  He was admitted to the third floor of the hospital.  At some point after physicians and nurses were aware of his hallucinations and mental impairment, the man fell from the window of
his hospital room, virtually crushing his pelvic bone, sections of his spine and other bones below his waist. "When medical professionals know that a patient is suffering from mental impairment it is the duty of the hospital and medical staff to protect from harm - even from self-inflicted harm.  There were several simple actions that could have
been taken to prevent this injury."  The hospital and client agreed to a confidential settlement.
